Okay, so we've been wanting to post this for quite sometime now, and it's been a leap of faith even typing this post, but we can't delay it any longer. God has been stirring some gigantic things in our family for a while now, and we feel like it's time to begin putting feet to our faith and moving through doors that God is opening.
Over the last couple of years, God, by His grace, has given us the privilege of seeing some of the deepest spiritual and physical need anywhere on this planet. Why do I call it a "privilege" to see some of the poorest places on earth? Why do I call it a "privilege" to have walked in places that have been under demonic oppression for hundreds, maybe thousands of years? Why? Because the Almighty has used these people, places, and situations to open our eyes to the vast lostness of our planet. He has granted us the opportunity to see firsthand the need for Christ in places that we never even knew existed. He has made us understand Luke 10:2, and what it means for the harvest to be plentiful but the workers few. He has given us a passion for the global mission. When I say "us", I mean my entire family. From myself and Kim, down through my five children. They ALL want to see Jesus glorified where He currently is not.
Get to the point, Josh. Okay. Many know, but some may not. God has called our family into full time mission work overseas. We have wrestled with Him long enough. We have fasted. We have prayed. We have asked, "God, are you sure?" probably 623 million times. And He doesn't. Stop. Confirming. He says Go. See, the more we prayed and fasted, the more God revealed to us that this is not a chore that He's asking us to do. He's not punishing our family by asking us to leave the comfort of the United States. It's AN HONOR. God doesn't need us to bring the message of the Gospel to a dark and dying world. He certainly doesn't need the Moody family to be able to reach a certain group of folks in Africa. But He lets us be a part. He lets us in on His work. How could anything else that I could do on this planet top that?? How could any amount of money rival that??? It's not a trick question. It can't.
So here's the deal. We can't reveal all the details right now, because quite frankly, we don't know them all. We're still working and praying through A LOT of stuff. We are in the very early stages of planning and have a long way to go. But we are taking small steps of obedience at a time.
One thing I do know is that our house in Longwood subdivision in Gardendale is officially for sale as NOW! We are going to sell and work toward getting completely debt free. Can't go to the mission field with house and credit card payments. Be on the lookout SOON for a post regarding the house. Tell anyone in that area that might be looking to buy!!!! :)
More than anything, we need some mighty prayer warriors standing beside us. This time of decision making is crucial. We need wisdom and discernment. We need clarity in some different areas. Kim and I need strength in our marriage and parenting. And we need to remember that God has us HERE for now, and we are to continue to make disciples here.......now, during this season of our lives.
We are so thankful for our friends and family who are fully behind us. We are thankful for a church that believes in the Great Commission and is supporting us 100%. And most importantly we are thankful for a Gospel message of forgiveness, and salvation through Jesus Christ. Apart from that, there is no reason for any of this.
We love you all.
Josh and Kim
