Day 1: The Jenkins Usborne Adoption Celebration

Okay, so if you read our previous blog post, you know what we're doing. If you didn't.......read here.  We don't have time to go through it again.  So here we go!!  Day 1 of the Moody's 12 Days of Christmas!

All of the different ministries, families, organizations, etc. we'll be highlighting are in no particular order of importance.  (i.e. we believe in day 12's group, just as much as day 1.)  But as everyone knows, adoption is near and dear to our hearts.......particularly Ugandan adoption, so this one was fitting to start with.

Andrew and Cristy Jenkins, a local Birmingham family, currently have six children and are in the process of adopting two more boys from Uganda.  Yes, they make the Moody family look small.  Currently they have a court date in Uganda on DECEMBER 14TH!!!! (This is one reason why this family is our first day!)  Their entire family of 8 will be traveling to UG to get their sons.......thus the fundraiser.  Please read more about this family on their blog (www.jcrewtoo.wordpress.com).

So here's how you can help this family bring their sons home AND pick up some great presents for the kiddos at the same time.  Catie Lumpkin and her ministry, The Forgotten Initiative, and Usborne Books have teamed up with the Jenkins family to help fundraise.  Come celebrate God's faithfulness in the Jenkins' lives by starting Christmas shopping early for your child's favorite learning books and gifts!

What do you do?  Simply shop online from your home at www.catiesusbornebooks.com/12441 between now and December 8th at midnight.  Everything is shipped straight to your home.  All profits go directly to the Jenkins family for their adoption.

To make the awesomeness of this event even better, as the Usborne consultant, Catie, who is a foster mom, gets free books.  She is using all free books earned from her Usborne sales to build home libraries for DHR serving Jefferson and Shelby County.  So, your purchase of these books now goes to help a family give two Ugandan orphans forever homes AND help kids in the U.S. foster care system in Jefferson and Shelby Counties!

Okay, I know this is a lot of information, but please consider purchasing for this cause.  You get a chance to care for the fatherless on multiple levels AND get some great presents for kids, grandkids, relatives, or friends!!!  Everybody wins.

Stay tuned for day two tomorrow!  Happy shopping!  LOVE BIG!!!!
