Did you know that 3.4 million people die every year from water related diseases? Did you know that 780 million people worldwide lack access to clean water (that's more that 2 1/2 times the United States population)? Did you know that lack of access to clean water and sanitation kills children at a rate equivalent of a jumbo jet crashing every four hours?
On a typical day, clean water doesn't cross our minds. We get a drink, we shower, we cook, we brush our teeth, without thinking twice about the clean, filtered, safe water that is going into our cups. But this is not the reality for a large portion of our planet.
Our highlighted ministry on day three is Living Water International. LWI is a Christ centered clean water ministry that provides wells and clean water as a means to share the Gospel. To date, they have completed 11,266 projects in 24 countries. Read more about them here.
Living Water has a great gift card "donation" program, where you can purchase gift cards in any amount and the recipient of the card can go online to the website and choose where and how the gift can be used. Maybe they want to support well drilling in Uganda, or maybe support a local pastor in a village in India with a LWI well. They have MANY different options. These make great gifts for teachers, grandparents, pastors, and your own kids (an incredible teaching opportunity).
