Day 9: The Dawson Family

Day 9 is featuring another family that is in the process of adopting from Uganda.  The Dawsons are from Virginia Beach, VA.  Kim got know Mandy through adoption circles.  They have completed everything on the domestic side and are waiting on their referral in Uganda.  We know from experience that international adoption is VERY expensive. Fundraising can get very tiresome and difficult and you wonder how you're going to reach that goal that you set, but the Dawson's have come up with a very cool and unique way that will remind them of God's blessings every year!

They have set up an adoption tree.  On this tree you can "sponsor" an ornament.  You can donate $15 or $25, and your family's name will be written on a pink or purple ornament.  They are using these to decorate a tree in their house.  I'll let her explain in her own words (from Mandy's blog):

"This tree is beautiful and exciting to me because it represents love in a very real and tangible way that I will be able to share with our child when she is in our home. I literally imagine putting this tree up next year with this precious girl in my lap and telling her that it's her tree and each ornament is a powerful message of love to her. I want this tree to grow up with her and become part of her story. Every Christmas I want her to look at each beautiful and sparkling ornaments with names represented and be filled with the knowledge of the wonderful love of Christ and dazzled by this oh so personal representation for her. I will tell her year after year that she is loved. I believe that love is the most important and powerful gift we give to each other."

How cool is that??  Consider donating here.  You can be a part of this child and family's story forever.
